12th Annual Murphy Memorial Golf Tournament

Over the past 11 years the Murphy Memorial has been able to generously contribute over $126,000 to various charities. Donations have been awarded to the Virginia Gay Healthcare Foundation, the Make a Wish Foundation, CaringBridge.com, Minnesota Hospice Organization, Hospice of Mercy, Gems of Hope, Virginia Gay Hospital Charity Care, and St.
BENTON COUNTY EXTENSION TO HOST FARM & BUSINESS SUCCESSION PLANNING WORKSHOP

Cabaret will be Saturday, May 14th at 7pm in the VSHS Auditorium.
The concert will feature all music ensembles at the high school including Concert Band, Jazz Band, Women's Chorale, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Jazz Choir, and Freshmen Select. Between our ensembles, other specialty acts will be featured including events from our Speech Team. Also, our art department has set up projects by students to be viewed outside of our auditorium.
NEISCA Open Horse Show June 18th at Benton County Fairgrounds
The NEISCA Open Horse Show will take place at the Benton County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 18th beginning at 10:00am.

Riverside's Got Talent; participants urged to sign up for contest at Palace
The Party in the Park event will include a new feature called "Riverside's Got Talent."
A total of 18 acts will have up to 5 minutes to entertain the audience with whatever routine they want. Participants are urged to register at the Vinton Palace.

HACAP Food Reservoir Seeks Food Donations for Stamp Out Hunger
Saturday May 14, 2011 is the annual NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. It is the largest one-day food drive in the Cedar Rapids area. The NALC (National Association of Letter Carriers) Food Drive Stamp Out Hunger occurs across the nation and has been significant in alleviating hunger in America.
Residents are asked to place non-perishable (non-glass) items at their mail box Saturday before their mail arrives.
SATURDAY NIGHT WORSHIP AT GARRISON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Beginning Saturday, June 4, through Saturday, August 28, at 5:00 pm, Garrison United Methodist Church will be offering a Saturday night service. Please join us for worship in a relaxed, "come as you are," friendly atmosphere. Garrison UMC is located at the corner of N. Sycamore and Maple Streets in Garrison, Iowa.
Benton Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners to meet
The next regular meeting of the Benton Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the District Office, located at 1705 West D Street, Vinton, IA. The meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m.
Agenda items include: approval of minutes, approval of treasurer’s report and bills, a presentation from Crop Tech, approval of conservation plans, Watershed Reports, an update on NRCS activities, correspondence, cost share programs, nominees for conservation awards, other routine business, and scheduling of the next meeting.
